Gunnar Boettcher posted a video of a bizarre rabbit to YouTube just so he and his brother could share a laugh — now he’s catching flack from the animal rights people.
Boettcher, who captured footage of what appears to be a seriously diseased rabbit with heavy facial growths and tumors, posted the video as a sort of mock Steve Irwin video, just for fun. But PETA-types have been jumping up his ass, telling him it isn’t right to laugh, and that he should take this animal to a vet.
For the record, an animal expert, Joe Stangel, from the Department of Natural Resources thinks that it is likely a fatal form of cancer — though he’s never seen it growing out of the head like that.
I fully blame Walt Disney for the “animal rights” attacks on Mr. Boettcher, who is confused by the criticism. “It’s a great idea to try to help him and make him healthy again, but it’s a little ridiculous to blame me for not helping the rabbit and taking him to the vet when it’s a wild rabbit,” he said. Had Walt Disney not made animals so damn lovable and human-like, the wusses of Generation X wouldn’t be so anal about everything that happens to them. Between Walt Disney and Kurt Cobain, that lousy generation never stood a chance.
