Comscore July Rankings Show Modest Increases In Online Video Viewership, Views

More than 187 million Americans watched online video in July, a slight increase of 4 million from the previous month, the latest Comscore Video Metrix data reported.

Online video viewers watched more than 48 billion videos in July, up from 44 billion watched in last month’s Comscore report. The study also pointed out that 86.6 percent of the internet audience watched online videos.

Although the online video viewership saw a modest increase from June, the number of video ad views went down in July. Comscore reported that online video viewers saw only 19.6 billion video ads, down from June’s number of nearly 20.1 billion ads.

Meanwhile, Machinima has the second largest number of video views among the independent networks at 417.5 million, though it lags behind in terms of unique video viewers at 18.2 million, slightly more than half of Fullscreen’s viewers. However, Machinima leads in viewer engagement with the channel garnering 91.8 minutes per viewer.
