Twitch Receives Over 4.5 Million Unique Viewers During International eSports Event, Launches Revamped iOS App

August 9 – 11 was an incredible weekend for eSports as the Dota 2 International Championships reached an explosive conclusion that brought in more than 4.5 million unique viewers to streaming game site Twitch on Sunday.

With over 550 million minutes watched and an average viewing time of over two hours, this weekend, Twitch made a very convincing case for why online video is a dangerous competitor in the modern entertainment infrastructure.

In addition to receiving record-breaking view numbers this weekend, Twitch launched an updated iOS app, which included additional live stream channels and a revamped chat function. Twitch promises to release even more streaming channels on their applications across all platforms in the near future.
