In the rise of the Gamer Era on YouTube, where good game commentary and content is the hottest commodity in YouTube town right now, Maker is fattening up its stables with some big names. Joining the ranks of the No. 1 most subscribed YouTuber PewDiePie and the always dynamic The Yogscast, Maker’s gaming and geek culture arm, Polaris, has brought in the likes of Captain Sparklez, Jide from KSIOlajidebt, Ali-A and Mitch aka The BajanCanadian.
“As we build out our roster of gamer personalities to engage a global audience with content that appeals to everyone from hard core to casual gamers, we sought out passionate new voices and content creators,” said Dar Nothaft, Vice President and general manager of Polaris, Maker Studios. “With Captain Sparklez, Jide, Ali-A and Mitch, we are taking Polaris to the next level.”
Like some video game A-Team, the group each has their specialties and strong suits, ranging from “Minecraft” to “Call of Duty” to FIFA. There also may or may not be one guy who has a mohawk and drives the van — I’m not sure. Details are still sort of sketchy at this early hour.
“I’m glad to be a part of Polaris and am eager to take advantage of their resources. I’m in good company, surrounded by a bunch of talented channels, and look forward to seeing where it leads,” said Captain Sparklez. Then he lights up a cigar as the theme music plays. Dun-dun-dun, dah-dah-dun…
