Tipsy Bartender: On Girls, Booze and Parties [YouTube Food Channel Tastemakers Series INTERVIEW]

If you weren’t doing a show about alcohol, what other topic would you do a YouTube show on?

If I wasn’t doing a drink show I would definitely be a relationship guru. I would have people submit their relationship questions to me and give them brutally honest answers. He only calls you late at night. He comes over, has sex and leaves. You’re a booty call! Your girlfriend spends all her time with her ex-boyfriend because they’re best friends now. F**k that! You need a new girlfriend! What makes me a relationship expert? Nothing. Most of my relationships are super dysfunctional. It’s been a long time since I’ve dated what society would consider a normal girl. Be that as it may, my advice is still pretty good.

Your YouTube job involves lots of alcohol and lots of women. I know how you get the drink recipes, but how do you recruit the ladies? And be honest: Do you ever hit on any of them after their drinks?

I recruit girls in a plethora of ways. Sometimes I have casting calls where I look for new girls. Other times friends would introduce me to girls that they feel would be perfect for the show. When I bartend, if there’s a girl at the bar that I feel is perfect I’d pitch the show and invite her over. A new trend is girls that are fans of the show are now contacting me and I often shoot with them. I’m always in the market for new talent; that special girl there everybody loves.

I NEVER hit on the girls. I do it playfully during episodes but once the camera is off I keep it professional. I want the girls to be comfortable with me and the only way to do that is to respect their boundaries. Once a girl is a part of the Tipsy Bartender family she’s off limits to me. I dated a Tipsy Girl once very briefly and it was a total disaster. She wanted to dictate which girls I used, which drink each girl should be making. She wanted the best drinks for herself. I’m not doing that shit again!

Off the top of your head, what would an NMR drink have in it? Well, besides an incredible amount of self-loathing, that is.

Hmm. NMR is young and hip. I was going to choose a martini-style drink for you but f**k that! Time for NMR to man up! Rapper Tech N9ne has a popular drink called a Caribou Lou. It’s Malibu, Bacardi 151 and pineapple juice in a cocktail glass. We’re gonna put a twist on his creation: “The New Media Rockstars Caribou Lou Bomb.” That’s right, it’s a bomb-style shot. Drop the shot glass into the pint glass and chug.

Pint Glass
1.5 oz Malibu Coconut Rum
1.5 oz Pineapple Juice
1.5 oz Red Bull

Shot glass
1.5 oz Bacardi 151

Editor’s note: This is part of our series profiles on Tastemade network creators that you should learn more about, because it’s Thanksgiving time, and even if it weren’t, NMR is made up of fatasses who love food.
