YouTube star Shane Dawson will soon be a creator behind the small screen as well.
According to Deadline, Dawson’s comedy series, called “Losin’ It,” has been sold and put into development by NBC. The project has TV series “The Big C” creator Darlene Hunt on board as a writer, based on scripts she co-penned with Dawson, and as an executive producer along with Dawson.
The show is based on Dawson’s own experiences, and will revolve around a weight loss center client becoming a consultant at his center and then finds himself promoted to manager on his first day.
Dawson, who is known for musical parodies and comedy videos on his ShaneDawsonTV channel (the 36th most subscribed channel on YouTube), used to be overweight himself, and once worked at weight loss company Jenny Craig before he began uploading videos to YouTube in 2008. Besides his three YouTube channels, which have over 9 million subscribers combined, he also currently hosts popular podcast “Shane and Friends.”
