Last time I wrote about K-pop, we got a bunch of hate mail. So I’m not going to go that route. Instead, in the spirit of Christmas, NMR is going to focus on the wonderful and totally not terrible genre of spunky, cheerful majesty that is K-pop. PSY made the genre global and performers like Girls Generation and G-Dragon have kept it here.
Since Billboard has posted the top 20 YouTube K-pop videos of 2013, NMR wanted to give a shout-out to our K-pop fans. While, no surprise, PSY has managed to keep a firm foothold on the top of the list, bands like the 12-person “supergroup” EXO are showing the diversity and talent that Korea has to offer.
