We’ve mentioned this YouTube/Dreamworks Animation collaboration, “YouTube Nation,” before, but allow us to color in some of the finer details now that some of the fog has risen.
The show, which launches tomorrow morning, will be the first daily YouTube show shot in 4K or “ultra HD,” as the cool kids are calling it. Showcasing what they promise will be the most sharable hidden gems from YouTube, the show will bring fresh, awesome content and interesting stories from the world of YouTube on a daily basis (oh great, another piranha in the tank).
Hosted by Jacob Soboroff, the show will broadcast in five minute-long bursts of awesome on a daily basis, Monday through Friday. That is to say, one five minute-long show a day, five days a week, and not a new episode every five minutes — this is YouTube, not “Old Faithful.”
Because no interesting story would be complete without a really long quote from some suit, here is a fine example of the species:
“It’s exciting to see the creative, visionary team from DreamWorks Animation bring their expertise and passion to YouTube to showcase the videos that define trends and pop culture moments around the world,” said Robert Kyncl, YouTube’s Head of Content and Business Operations. “The people at DreamWorks Animation are ideal producers of this show: they really understand the YouTube space, highlighted by their acquisition of AwesomenessTV last year. We’re always looking for new, innovative ways to promote and drive traffic to our partner channels and see YouTube Nation as a great opportunity to help viewers discover great content which will surprise and delight.”
Tune in at 8 a.m. PT to see what will doubtlessly be an interesting experiment in YouTube merrymaking.
