In other news today: your life isn’t really that bad. Sure, maybe your vlogs aren’t getting the millions of views that some YouTubers’ videos get, and maybe you still hate the integration of Google+ into the YouTube comment system, and maybe you are the editor of a zombie site that covers the previous two incessantly, but at least you aren’t in Marwan’s shoes.
Four-year-old Marwan was found fleeing Syria by UN workers in the Jordanian desert all by himself, his possessions contained within a lone plastic bag. The ongoing civil war in Syria is, needless to say, a tragedy of catastrophic proportions that has turned over 2,488,000 Syrians into refugees, and that’s not even mentioning the death count and widespread human rights violations.
Reflect on the picture, tweeted by CNN International anchor Hala Gorani, count your blessings, and then take relief in the fact that Marwan was eventually reunited with his mother.
