Finally, the mighty Goliath who stood against equal rights for all has crumbled … Facebook has opened up its allowable options to 50 different gender classifications. I’m of course kidding about Facebook being against equal rights, they’ve long been one of the most progressive and vocal proponents of this sort of discussion. In fact, even before they had the enormous list of gender choices which range from the staid “boy” and “girl” to “transgender,” “cisgender,” “gender fluid,” “intersex” and “neither,” they had the incredibly cool “It’s complicated” option. Even I thought about hitting that one when I first signed on to Facebook back in the day.
But you know you’re doing something right when you allow people to be just how they feel — nothing more, nothing less. Good work, Facebook. Maybe Princeton was wrong about you guys … girls … persons … uh … I’ll just stop talking now.
