Vevo has come down with a serious case of Latin fever — the biggest music company on the web has just teamed up with NuvoTV, the English-language destination for Latin music lovers, whose chief creative officer happens to be Jennifer Lopez (true story).
The first collab will be a web series called “The Collective, Powered by Vevo.” According to the company’s press release, “the weekly, two-hour will feature select DJs and celebrity tastemakers who will offer their unique perspective on what’s new and what’s hot across music and pop culture.”
It debuts March 6 at 8:00 p.m., and according to Doug McVehil, Vevo’s senior vice president of content and programming, “The Collective, Powered by Vevo marks our first foray into weekly television production. Creating original programming that is distributed through digital and traditional broadcast channels is an important focus for Vevo this year. We could not be more excited to work with the team at NuvoTV and Jennifer Lopez to bring viewers a new voice in music and pop culture.
Now the question is: how involved will Miss Lopez actually be with the online production? My Magic 8-ball says, “Not so much.” Still, if you’re a fan of Latin music and want a television-like format but hate television, this is the show for you. Doubtlessly “The Collective, Powered by Vevo” is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
