People have gotten way too hip. Every year the internet tries to fool people with some sort of chicannery and every year people realize right away it is an April Fool’s Day prank.
Last year, YouTube claimed they were doing a live stream countdown of the top videos of all time. It was pretty funny, but everyone saw it coming (especially those of us who got the press release from YouTube ahead of time so that we could cover the “event”). Hell, even Sourcefed got in on it one year with a release that Grumpy Cat had died … brilliant. But just because people know it’s April Fool’s Day doesn’t mean that they don’t appreciate a good pranking at someone else’s expense. And so with that in mind, here are five of the meanest pranks ever committed to YouTube.
5. Scary Brazilian Elevator Girl
This prank is in the prank hall of fame for sure. When we wrote about it, it had 5 million views originally. Now it’s over 86 million. A good mean prank is timeless, but this one suffers marginally from the laugh track though.
4. BlackBoxTV Evil Photo Booth Prank
When I first saw this prank, I speculated that it might be the meanest prank of all time. Now it’s number 4. Oh how we’ve fallen as a society.
3. Whatever the hell this is …
This is some sort of mean-spirited Russian prank show, and they’ve delightfully set some of their best, most dangerous and meanest pranks to the “Ghostbusters” theme. This is amazing. I’m glad we don’t have to deal with this kind of crap in the U.S. … oh wait …
2. VitalyZDTV — The World Is Ending
Ahh, Vitaly, you never disappoint. There might be nothing funnier than watching OTHER people scramble for their lives in a perceived emergency. Christ, I would shit my pants if this happened to me though.
1. The Meanest Prank of All Time
I’m not going to say a word about it, but this prank has all the elements of long-time lasting damage. Though the video quality sucks, be sure to watch the entire thing for the full effect.
