‘Coffee Shop Love’ Music Video Shows A Whole Other Side To Ryan Higa

This was kind of a pleasant surprise …

Who knew Ryan Higa had such a capacity for flow, rhythm and melody? Displaying a sort of Jamie Foxx or Destorm ability to be a chameleon, Ryan Higa belts out “Coffee Shop Love,” an ode to falling in love at your local Starbucks and totally nails it.

Higa told NMR about the video: “Josh (Golden) and I were in a coffee shop and we just thought of it. We wrote it and recorded it that same day.”

I love career reinvention, and not that Higa’s needed resuscitation, but it is awesome to see this side of him shine through. He’s got the charisma and swagger necessary to make this video work. Available at iTunes, this duet with Golden begs for many more songs from the multi-hyphenate performer.

On whether he would be releasing his own album one day, Higa said: “A musical album is possible but only as a joke. I’m not a musician in any way.”
