Is Tobuscus Dead? 4chan Manufactures Grisly Demise For YouTube Star Toby Turner

There is probably an extra ghost in the world today — but it isn’t YouTube star Toby “Tobuscus” Turner. 4chan concocted that little hoax during a busy session on their random “anything goes” /b/ message board forum.

Toby, he of Tobuscus games and several other popular vlogging channels on YouTube, had 4chan jumping onto his latest videos to swarm his comments section with a series of mournful posts regarding the early demise of the 28-year-old, in a car crash.Screen shot 2014-04-28 at 4.30.08 PM

They even used a fake newspaper generator to create a news post from the L.A. Times.

But Toby came out ahead in this situation as he was able to crank out a video parodying the fact that he was supposed to be dead and had it nab over 182,000 views.

More tragically, the “fake death” thing has lost its panache. Several of the hoaxers even tried to establish a #CutForTobyTurner hashtag on Twitter. Next they’ll probably resort to SWATing him or sending a bunch of unsolicited delivery people.

Here is a note from Toby regarding his “demise”:
