Next Step In Tech Wars? YouTube Mix Unleashes Streaming Music On Android Phones

Android users got a gift recently in YouTube’s latest foray into streaming music territory. The option, called YouTube Mix, which has been available to the desktop computer crowd for a while now, makes its move into a forum where it can be of real use: the smartphone.

Generating a streaming playlist is easy for users of the Google-owned brands (both Android and YouTube — yay synergy!) — all you have to do is type in the name of a performance artist and a Spotify/Pandora-like list of tunes will be generated to play at your leisure.

Yes, there are still ads — there will always be ads — even HBO sort of has ads. But it’s at least a likely glimpse into what YouTube is planning in terms of their actual streaming music service … if it ever comes.
