With the need for attracting younger viewers via viral YouTube posts all but assured, the late night battle is going to get very tough when likely fan favorite Stephen Colbert joins the pack next year. But is the going as close as we think it is? Are all late night hosts created equal? Or does one of them — Jimmy Fallon, Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel and David Letterman — stand head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to their YouTube presence? We decided to find out. Obviously Dave is going to lag in the game, but, annoyingly, Stephen Colbert’s YouTube views just get lumped in with all of Comedy Central’s stuff.
The surprises? Dave only got into the YouTube game seven months ago? Yikes … he could have had a major leg up on his competitors. Jimmy Fallon started his skit posting way back in his “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” days. And Kimmel? Clearly Kimmel is killing it. But Fallon is gaining traction fast — really fast. It looks like it could be anybody’s game come this time next year. Except Carson Daly.
