Tiny Chihuahua Rescued From Busy Freeway Becomes Viral Star on Twitter, Facebook

From our ‘Heartwarming Stories’ department:

A chihuahua has a new lease on life — and, likely, a new home. The little pup became a viral sensation after it was stranded on a freeway median near Contra Costa, Calif. and had to be rescued by the California Highway Patrol, an image of which they posted to their Twitter account.

While nobody quite knows how the tiny 2-year-old rat-posing-as-a-dog got on the freeway median (somebody knows! somebody knows!), the CHP rescued her and turned her over to a rescue organization. Already the calls have been coming in from people wanting to adopt her though and her brush with death, as she perched on the concrete divider of a busy freeway, has made her a star (the clock is ticking; don’t get comfortable, honey!).

In the meantime, a Facebook page has been set up for the pup, and the court of public opinion has already flayed and branded the dog’s original owners as “heartless abandoners.”

My guess? The CHP engineered this photo op because they are trying to one-up firemen rescuing cats from trees. Think about the ticket that CHP officer gave you … they’re crafty bastards, always lurking, hiding, lying in wait. Suddenly this all seems awfully convenient doesn’t it?
