When you close your eyes and think of awesome live music performances you also picture wanting to buy a nice new Honda Accord, right? That seems to be the Japanese car company’s hope as they pump investment dollars into starting a new YouTube channel called “the Honda Stage.”
Teaming up with Live Nation, Vevo, Clear Channel and other music companies, Honda wants to post dozens of live acts and concert videos to its new channel.
“Rather than hanging a banner at a concert, we looked the Vans Warped Tour and said ‘What if we do that in the auto space?'” says Tom Peyton, assistant vice president of advertising and marketing for American Honda. Instead of just posting ads to someone else’s video, he says “we think we could get even more out of that ad dollar if it has a significant tie-in with the emotional content that’s accompanying our ad.”
Performers will both perform on a set stage at the IHeartMusic Studio in L.A. as well as on various travelling Honda stages that will be sent to concert venues and festivals.
