So you love YouTube. Like … really, really, really love YouTube. You love it so much, in fact, that you often find yourself sitting around wishing that you could somehow watch your favorite YouTube stars do their thing in real life, right?
Well, if you’re a fan of NicePeter, you have the chance to do exactly that this summer.
The Epic Rap Battles creator is doing a tour from now until late July, traveling through much of the US and parts of Europe as well. NMR was lucky enough to catch him at his engagement in Los Angeles, and — trust us — if you’re a fan, this is not a show that you want to miss.
Check out our interview with NicePeter below, and then do yourself a favor and immediately go get yourself a ticket to see the show. We promise from the very bottom of our YouTube-loving hearts that you won’t be disappointed!
Show dates and tickets can be found on his website.
What made you feel like it was time to hit the road for a tour?
I spend a lot of time interacting with an audience with computers between us. I’ve known for some time that I need to get back out onto the road and really meet people and see their smiling faces and hear their voices. It’s a very rewarding connection. As far as feeling like it was time, I think I just made it the time.
Any venues you’re particularly excited to play?
I’ve never been to Belgium before, so I’m excited about that in a unique way. Every venue has its own excitement and possibility.
Is it at all weird for you to get out and tour and do live shows after doing the bulk of your work on the internet? Or is it a pretty easy transition?
Not weird. Very refreshing. It’s an easy transition because that’s where I come from. It’s like riding on the street you grew up on, on a bicycle.
Personally, one of my favorite things about the show tonight was watching you perform some of your Epic Rap Battles with fans by inviting them up on the stage to do the songs. What’s it like getting that one-on-one interaction and seeing how enthused these fans are about your work?
It’s real. I like real stuff.
Best thing about going on tour?
New town every day.
Worst thing about going on tour?
Driving to a new town every day.
