The internet’s It-girl Zoe Sugg, better known as Zoella, announced today that she’s scored a book deal with Penguin. The 24-year- old beauty vlogger will pen the appropriately titled “Girl Online” about a young blogger whose life changes dramatically when her anonymous blog achieves sudden viral fame. It’s a topic in which Zoe, whose subscribers currently number 4.9 million, is well versed.
“Girl Online” will be fiction, the first of two books that Sugg has signed on to write for Penguin, but one might expect that she’ll draw on her experiences as a popular internet personality to fill in the details. The book also involves an online relationship, perhaps reminiscent of Sugg’s high profile relationship with fellow vlogger and popular YouTuber Alfie Deyes.
Zoe is just the latest YouTuber to add “published author” to her resume. All three members of YouTube’s Holy Trinity, Grace Helbig, Hannah Hart and Mamrie Hart, have books in the works. These books will join the already published Epic Meal Time cookbook on the shelves along with rumored releases from iJustine, Shane Dawson, and Connor Franta.
