YouTuber Troye Sivan is well on his way to conquering all forms of media. At 19 he’s already had a part in an X-Men film, headlined a popular movie franchise, and climbed to the top of the YouTube heap. Now he’s set his sights on the music world. Troye has signed with EMI Australia to distribute his five-song debut EP “TRXYE.”
The EP will debut globally in August with digital pre-orders beginning in late July. Though the tracklist hasn’t been finalized, the lead single is tipped to be “Happy Little Pill,” which Sivan teased in a YouTube video announcing the album. A corresponding music video is also expected in late July. As of yet, no label has stepped forward to distribute the album in the U.S. but according to a rep for Sivan, “numerous” labels have expressed interest.
This isn’t Sivan’s first foray into music. The young Australian vlogger dabbled in music before. His single “The Fault In Our Stars,” inspired by the John Green novel of the same name, earned 53,000 downloads and over 2.9 million plays on Soundcloud. The video for the “Fault” single is Sivan’s third most watched, having garnered 3.2 million views, a number that is likely to climb with word of the upcoming album release.
Will you be one of the first to download “TRXYE?”
