If you thought NMR BFF Paige McKenzie was just going to lie around in some giant champagne glass surrounded by her stacks of money from her Weinstein Company deal, clearly you don’t know Sunshine Girl.
Tackling the gender issue in filmmaking head on, Paige and her Coat Tale Productions team, which formed in 2011, are using their clout to create a new studio for female filmmakers. According to their press release, Coat Tale Productions will raise financing for 10 films at a time, with a commitment to at least 75 percent of their films featuring a female director and/or screenwriter.
Currently raising financing for their slate of films, Paige and her partners Mercedes Rose and Nick Hagen are anticipating a release date for the first movie to be late 2014, early 2015.
“It’s exciting for me on so many levels. We’re waist deep in project acquisition already! There are so many great stories to tell and I’m privileged to be a part of that,” said Paige.
While we’ve only seen a taste of what the girls can bring to the table so far, with Coat Tale Productions and the talented and ambitious Paige McKenzie involved, there should be a whole raft of new voices discovered. Hopefully at least some of the content continues in the scare tradition first brought forth by Paige’s YouTube channel, The Haunting of Sunshine Girl.
