Okay, this footage is a damn lie and everybody knows it, but so what?
Considering the saga starts off with the message “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away,” it should come as no surprise that this CGI-enhanced video taken at the Frankfurt airport in Germany doesn’t reflect any imagery from the forthcoming J.J. Abrams-directed feature. But that doesn’t mean we can’t all stop and enjoy the what-ifs, right?
Creator Frank Wunderlich has enjoyed over 1.5 million viewers for his computer-enhanced spectacle that purports to show AT-ATs walking the tarmac as his plane comes in for a landing because it gives us all a measure of hope. Lets be honest — this footage is a lot more compelling and reassuring than the crap Abrams posted as part of his charity-whoring exercise a couple months ago.
While I remain guardedly optimistic that the new “Star Wars” films won’t suck, I can’t help but envy the hardcore “Star Wars” fans who will die after the announcement of the new films but before the new films’ actual release date. They truly will know the meaning of “A New Hope” without living long enough to see it squashed.
