YouTube Prankster VitalyZd Takes the Field at the World Cup Final

Everyone knows that if you’ve got a product to promote, getting your brand on the air during a major sporting event is a great way to do it. While purchasing an ad during the World Cup is way cheaper than doing so during the Super Bowl, it seems that the price was still a little too high for Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, better known on YouTube as VitalyZd. Apparently the Russian-American prankster prince wasn’t going to let a little thing like that stop him. Not when a ticket to Rio was still well within his budget.

Zdorovetskiy rushed onto the field during the second half of the FIFA final on Sunday with the words “Natural Born Prankster” scrawled across his bare chest, a feat tailor-made to garner all sorts of international media attention for the YouTube troublemaker. He managed to evade security for a few moments while attempting to land a kiss on German defender Benedikt Howedes, but was ultimately carried off the field by stadium security.

Unfortunately for Zdorovetskiy, ABC, the network broadcasting the game, chose to cut away from his antics to stock filler of Rio De Janeiro rather than broadcast his stunt. The prank did, however, make waves all over social media and was even captured in an Instagram video by none other than NBA superstar LeBron James, who was in Rio for the final match.

While it seems like the stunt paid off, giving Vitaly some brand new international buzz — come on, man! There are easier ways! Someone call Susan Wojcicki and get this guy one of those snazzy new commercials like Michelle Phan!
