Stop your life! This is the most important thing you will read today. Disney has released an episode of its new web-series “Disney Drive-On,” and it features The Muppets. The company is celebrating the home video release of “Muppets Most Wanted,” the latest addition to its successful Muppet film franchise, by featuring Kermit and the gang in the latest episode of the web series, which takes place at the Disney lot in Burbank.

The web short features Walter, the newest Muppet introduced in Disney’s 2011 “Muppet Movie.” In true Muppet fashion, there are a handful of celebrity cameos and plenty of Hollywood in-jokes. The “Disney Drive-On” series is featured on the “Disney Movies Anywhere” channel, one of the company’s many YouTube platforms.

Over the last few years, Disney has picked up a handful of truly iconic media properties. Everything from Star Wars to the Jim Henson Company now live under the Disney banner. Disney also picked up Maker Studios in a $500 million cash deal earlier this year, signaling that the company is ready to get serious about online video and original digital content. The Muppets represent one of the most popular and enduring franchises in Disney’s extensive library so using them for exclusive digital content is a major vote of confidence from the mouse.

Are we crazy, or would YouTube be the perfect place to revive “The Muppet Show”? The original show featured some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. A revived “Muppet Show” could feature the stars of YouTube bouncing up against Kermit, Piggy and the rest of the crew. For now, we’ll have to content ourselves with this “Disney-Drive On” short, but don’t be surprised if more iconic characters from Disney’s enormous vault start making their way onto the digital stage.
