Good news for nerdfighers: It looks like author/vlogger/social media star John Green is out of the hospital and on the mend. As we reported last week, the Vlog Brother was in the hospital and reported being “very sick” but kept the details private. Now he’s headed home and revealed via social media that his stint in the hospital was the result of nasty case of viral meningitis, an infection that affects the lining of the brain and spinal cord. Please leave John Green’s brain alone, viral infection! We need it! Also, his spinal cord, probably!
Though always open to sharing his thoughts and feelings online, John Green is usually pretty quiet about his personal life, so we weren’t expecting him to reveal much about his illness aside from the cheerful looking hospital bed selfie he snapped last week to explain the lack of a new Vlog Brothers videos. Though he’s headed home, Green has already warned fans that he may be under the weather for some time. Viral meningitis is the least severe form of the disease, but the best kind of meningitis to have is still probably no meningitis! The symptoms of the disease can linger for days or even weeks.
We at NMR are glad to see that John is feeling perky enough to hop back on Twitter and we wish him a speedy recovery! As for viral meningitis, we’re not fans!
