Reddit Is Coming For Your Gaming Console

Brace yourself, Xbox users: the mother of all memes is coming to your platform. That’s right, Reddit, the cesspool of all things great and terrible on the internet, is coming to Microsoft’s Xbox platform with a brand new app. Larry Hyrb, Microsoft’s director of programming for Xbox, announced the new app on his blog yesterday. Tentatively known as ReddX, the app is a first-of-its-kind effort by the Reddit design team to reach game console users.

According to Hyrb, ReddX will be fully integrated with all of Xbox’s key features, including voice commands and multitasking tool Snap. Users will have access to all the familiar features of Reddit like upvoting and downvoting threads and posts as well as adding comments using their Xbox controller. Reddit is one of the web’s most popular sites and a hotbed of viral content and memes. However, the site has been slow to adapt to other platforms. Last April, rumors circulated about a mobile app that has yet to surface, but coming to Xbox is an important step if Reddit wants to continue to grow.
