The Whistle, the multi-channel network that’s conquered sports for the connected generation, has set up a new office in Dallas. The new facility is mostly a studio for The Whistle’s MVP, the trick shot masters of Dude Perfect. However, the facility will include production studios and staff to support all of the Whistle’s partner channels. The network has been rapidly adding subscribers and views thanks in large part to its lead channels like Dude Perfect and the soccer wizard at STRSkillSchool.
In addition to its power player channel partners, The Whistle has forged a network of connections to dominate sports on YouTube. The Whistle boasts arrangements with the digital content arms of Major League Baseball, The NFL and NASCAR, to name just a few. Back in June, it acquired The Lacrosse Network, another boutique sports-focused MCN, further consolidating its control over the sports vertical.
The new Dallas facility will join The Whistle’s existing offices in New York and Los Angeles. In the world of MCNs, Whistle seems to embody the new model for success. Rather than spread out its focus with partner channels across multiple genres, The Whistle has focused on one vertical — sports — and set out to conquer it. As content genres go, it’s one that is surprisingly under-exploited on YouTube. While other video platforms like Dailymotion have actively pursued sports partnerships, YouTube has been less active in that arena, leaving the field wide open for a well-funded startup like The Whistle to take the lead.
