Endemol Beyond, the digital arm of television and media company Endemol has been having a string of high profile successes recently. The digital network scored a major deal to represent YouTube superstar Michelle Phan, and it has been making headway building the digital careers of mainstream celebrities like apparent digital icon Pitbull. Now the network has launched two brand new YouTube channels to bring more original content to the web, Beyond Originals, and Beyond Reality.
Beyond Originals has already curated a handful of popular web series including Anna Akana’s “Riley Rewind,” actress Melissa Hunter’s “Adult Wednesday Adams,” and “Job Hunters” which stars YouTuber Kristina Horner. A new channel trailer calls for submissions from creators of every stripe and promises content from mainstream directors like Kevin Smith as well as undiscovered web talent. Endemol is hopes to use to develop web series concepts and incubate them for a possible wider launch or even transition to television.
A second channel Beyond Reality will focus on the reality programming that is the heart of Edemol’s media empire. Though the channel promises original programming it will also feature content from Endemol’s existing reality properties like Big Brother and Wipeout. The channel will also premier two new web-based reality shows: “The #Muthaship” staring Sopranos actress Drea de Matteo and “True Internet Tales” a behind the scenes look at the creators of popular memes.
