It’s ALIVE! ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!
I was trying to think of some appropriate way to intro Vevo’s emergence into the concert scene and somehow the monster awakening scene from “Frankenstein” seemed appropriate. See the monolithic entity that is Vevo has decided it is now going to be in the concert-throwing business.
Signing up Iggy Azalea and Demi Lovato for headlining duties (as they are apparently Vevo CERTIFIED’s Most-Viewed Artists), the first annual CERTIFIED Superfanfest will commence on Oct. 8 in Santa Monica, CA. Fortunately for those of you who don’t live in CA (or have been kidnapped to Ohio), Vevo will be broadcasting streams of the event across all its platforms starting on Oct. 16.
Commented Doug McVehil, Vevo’s Senior Vice President, Content and Programming: “Because a video would never reach 100 million views without the fans, CERTIFIED salutes the audience as much as it honors music videos and the artists who made them. With CERTIFIED SuperFanFest, Vevo will create a once-in-a-lifetime event that will truly integrate the fans into the celebration. We are thrilled to have Iggy Azalea and Demi Lovato – two of the biggest superstars on the planet with five CERTIFIED videos between them – as the first performers for what will be an annual party and a major tent pole for Vevo.”
CERTIFIED videos, according to Vevo, are those videos that achieve gold or platinum status with the RIAA and get a whole bunch of views on YouTube and friends.
In addition to the concert, certain fans will be selected by Vevo to take over its official Instagram account and share details of the concert with the world. Ooh, could be you!
