Disney hasn’t wasted any time making friends in the digital space now that the ink has dried on their acquisition of Maker Studios. Maker Studios has just formed an alliance with Spanish-language MCN MiTú to produce original content in English and Spanish. Because we absolutely editorialize here at NMR, we say this is a brilliant move.
MiTú is an important digital face for the online Latino community with their 55 million subscribers and 400 million monthly views across roughly 1300 channels. And of course Maker brings Disney and their wealth of content to the party.
“Hispanic millennials in the U.S. are avid viewers of online video across all platforms,” said Jason Krebs, Maker’s head of sales, to Variety. “Teaming up with MiTu allows us to meet the demands of so many of our brand partners who want to connect with today’s young generation of Latinos, as well as provide this service to new advertising partners.”
No telling yet if they will jointly release videos or film two versions, but expect good things to come of this partnership for both camps.
