Mirands Sings might be the internet’s best kept secret. Colleen Ballinger’s hilarious egomaniac alter-ego is everywhere on the internet, but if you mention her name to anyone over the age of 30 you’re likely to get a blank stare. That’s all about to change though. Jerry Seinfeld is a connoisseur of comedy, a skill he puts to good use on his Emmy nominated web series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.” Friday night, Seinfeld visited the Late Show With David Letterman to promote the new season and talk about one of his favorite guests from this season: the one and only Miranda Sings.
Colleen Ballinger, the woman behind Miranda Sings, posted a clip on her personal channel where Seinfeld tells a predictably clueless Dave all about Miranda and her huge internet following. He seems genuinely impressed with her comedic talents, which is definitely high praise. “Comedians In Cars” is a freewheeling series on Crackle in which Seinfeld picks up one of his comedy colleagues and they go for a drive to pick up coffee. The conversations are general funny, free-wheeling, and sometimes even informative. Previous episodes have featured comedy legends like Mel Brooks, Chris Rock, and Larry David and Louis CK.
In addition to Miranda the upcoming season will feature stars like Jimmy Fallon, Fred Armisen, Kevin Hart, and Amy Schumer. Miranda would probably object to being called a comedian, of course. She is, after all, one of the world’s greatest vocalists in her own mind. Still, she’s definitely in great company and it’s big recognition for one of the internet’s most unique creators. We wonder how long it’ll be before Miranda is pulling up a chair next to Dave herself.
