Has it really been five years since Baman Piderman debuted on the Mondo Media YouTube channel? I feel like I was but a babe in the woods when this amazingly surreal animated show came into my life. But here we are years later, and I’m now a grown-ass man with a strong, handsome woodsman’s jaw and real world problems.
Of course, none of that precluded me from being amongst the first to squeal and tune in to watch the opener of the third season! While the show certainly takes its time between seasons, a treat for devoted watchers has been the ever-increasing length of episodes — the first episode of the first season was just a scant 34 seconds or so, if I recall correctly. Now we’re up to 2:50. If this trend continues, somewhere by the 12th season (in the year 2568), Baman Piderman will be up to a full half hour!
But fear not: the increase in length hasn’t decreased any of the oddity of our two heroes as they battle everyday obstacles. If only Salvador Dali had lived to be weirded out by this series, created by Lindsay and Alex Small-Butera. And of course, NMR would completely fail in our efforts if we didn’t completely throw a shoutout to Ben Kling for his excellent song “I Feel A Feeling.”
If you haven’t figured it out yet, Baman Piderman is about two best friends who look –almost, but legally not quite, like two other superheroes you may have heard of. Also, there’s a tuba.
Check out Baman Piderman on YouTube’s channel — but make sure you leave the acid at home, because this series will kickstart your sweet, gentle mind, bro.
