Crackle just dropped the trailer for its Emmy nominated digital hit, Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. The show has been a big winner for Crackle with its simple format generating comedy gold from some of the world’s top comedians. This season will feature some of the biggest names in comedy including Fred Armisen, Bill Burr, Jimmy Fallon, Kevin Hart, Amy Schumer, and Alexandra Wentworth who will all join Jerry for a drive and a cup of joe. More importantly, this season will be the first to feature a YouTube comedian. Superstar Miranda Sings, the egotistical alter-ego of vocalist and actress Colleen Ballinger, will take up the passenger seat next to Seinfeld to share her own uniquely Miranda musings.
Seinfeld delighted the internet by giving Miranda a special shout-out last month on The Late Show With David Letterman. When Letterman asked if the upcoming season of Comedians In Cars would feature any big surprises Jerry was quick to name Miranda, declaring her a fantastic talent that many in Letterman’s audience might not yet know or expect. Despite their millions of followers, YouTube stars like Miranda can still fly under the cultural radar. Though web based, Seinfeld’s show has a very different audience and a very different make-up, meaning Miranda/Colleen may finally get the mainstream exposure she deserves.
The new season kicks off November 6th, with the release of the first of six scheduled episodes. No word yet on the line-up order. The show’s fifth season was also expected to include an appearance by comedy legend Joan Rivers, but Rivers tragically passed away before she could film the episode.
