NMR friend Levar Burton, who smashed Kickstarter earlier this year with a monster of a campaign to save Reading Rainbow, made an interesting promise:
If the Rooster Teeth Extra Life telethon, a charity dedicated to saving kids through video games, raised more than $75,000 he would come on and read “Go the F**k to Sleep” by Adam Mansbach. Ultimately, the YouTube gamer-focused group raised more than $82,000 and Burton made good on his word.
Having grown up with Burton’s Reading Rainbow — a wholesome show dedicated to getting kids to read — in my peripherary, there is a certain perverse delight in hearing the kid’s show host cuss.
Now if only we could get Barney to sing some 2 Live Crew, we’d be in business …
