As far as guerilla marketing techniques to sell your parental help book go, you could do a lot worse than create an insanely viral video. Johanna Stein, author of “How Not To Calm A Child On A Plane” made the video as a lark to help promote her book. She never expected anyone but her friends to see it. Much less, a million+ other people. Now she’s getting calls from CNN and everybody wants a piece of the pie.
Stein, who wrote about her brutally honest four-year-old daughter’s comments to her on a daily basis, had her daughter, now three years older reenact the comments for the video, while Stein walks around half-lidded wearing a GoPro. It’s an impressive new perspective on motherhood to say the least. But can a full YouTube career result from all this hype?
