The real test of a social media star’s popularity is how they fare when money gets involved …
Cameron Dallas is about to find out. Dallas, who has 6.1 million followers on Vine, is about to find out how many of his fans are willing to drop cash money to watch him act in a feature-length comedy.
The film, made in conjunction with AwesomenessTV, is called “Expelled” and it gets a minor release in selected cities on Dec. 12. After that, it will be available Dec. 30 on a VOD platform. And, naturally, Dallas will be bringing some of his best Vine buddies along for the big screen ride. Also appearing will be Lia Marie Johnson, Marcus Johns,Michelle Glavan, Teala Dunn, Andrea Russett and True Jackson, VP actor Matt Shively.
According to the release, Dallas plays Felix, a legendary prankster who seems to always charm his way out of trouble. However, after his third strike at school, the principal has had enough and expels him. Never defeated, Felix resorts to his infamous ways and devises a plan with his brother (Johns), best friend (Shively), new friend (Johnson) and classmate (Russett) to convince his parents he’s a stellar student.
Sounds like a good plan — now we just have to see if it works. And based on hit feature comedy Camp Takota, which starred three of YouTube’s biggest names, it will.
