Gangnam Style Explodes YouTube’s View Counter — No, Really!

So YouTube apparently has met its match …

Gangnam Style, the little song that could by South Korean pop artist Psy, has kept on trucking and now it seems it is beyond the scope of what even YouTube thought possible for itself. Dare to dream higher, YouTube. The algorithm that runs the view counter for the site ceased to function recently after Gangnam Style achieved too many views.

Apparently the magic number was 2,146,483,647, which is the highest number their puny 32-bit processor could manage. (Not even N64 strength? C’mon, team.) So did Gangnam Style get cheated out of any views that occurred while the counter was malfunctioning? Look, the guy’s got more than enough views, I’m not going to raise a ruckus over this one.

In the meantime, the view count has resumed, allegedly meaning YouTube fixed the nagging little problem. But now, we’re left to wonder: who is still watching Gangnam Style? Could this be the first evidence of life on Mars?
