Her first video was posted in mid-November, so I’m not THAT late, but she’s already got six videos under her belt. They’re…eclectic. A house tour, a boxing routine, a tour of the WB lot… in theory, this is great. Snippets of Shay’s life and work routine that fans can’t get from Instagram or Twitter alone. In reality, thus far it feels a little too put together — like someone on her PR team thought this was a good idea and organized everything and Shay just kinda shows up.
That’s no knock on this lovely Canadian actress. Starting a YouTube channel can be harder than it looks! In this day and age, YouTubers really have to have that blend of authenticity, relatability, and watchable production values. And if you’re coming from the world of film and TV, that means there are a lot of new things to learn, and a lot to UNLEARN. Here’s to hoping Shay is able to find a more organic way to connect with fans should she choose to stick with YouTube — and I hope she does! Shay needs to be on our screens long after Rosewood’s mystery of “A” is finally revealed.
In the meantime, learn some facts you may not know about her and damn, check out that HOUSE!
