NMR is constantly monitoring the YouTube charts, tracking what’s on the rise and who’s falling out of favor. Our Daily Top 20 gives you the 20 videos that are reigning supreme at the top of our charts so you can stay one step ahead of what’s hot.

Topping the charts this morning is the climactic clip for Discovery’s latest programming stunt Eaten Alive. Discovery disappointed America when wildlife expert Paul Rosolie was (SPOILERS!) NOT EATEN ALIVE by an anaconda on national television. Even dressed in a protective suit Rosolie found the pain of being constricted by the giant snake too great and was forced to tap out, disappointing millions of insane people who apparently thought he was actually going to be eaten.
Also trending today, the unstoppable reign of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” continues unabated. A lip synch video featuring the Victoria’s Secret Angels lip syncing to the song soared to number three on the chart after being tweeted by the Swiftstress herself. Also rising in the charts today, the Avengers singing Christmas Carols, Bill Gates sharing his favorite books of 2014, and Gwen Stefani doing a MasterCard ad because everything is terrible.
Today is also a huge day for YouTubers on the top twenty. YouTube surged back to retake the charts after several days of domination by mainstream pop stars and gaming ads. First among equals is Connor Franta who locked in at number 4 with his emotional coming out video. Connor nailed the “coming out of YouTube” formula with a bit of humor, a lot of sincerity, and just a few tears and we couldn’t be more impressed. On the lighter side, the Fine Brothers latest “Kids React” jumped up to number 11 on the charts and made me feel old as kids reacted to the original Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. Fortunately before I could crumble into a pile of dust, Kurt Hugo Schneider gave me a dose of life with his three minute medley of songs off of Taylor Swift’s blockbuster album 1989.
Rounding out the list at number 20 is the world premiere of Zelda for the WiiU. The Nintendo produced video featuring commentary from the games producer and original creator is enjoying its second day on the charts, a testament to the enduring popularity of the Zelda franchise.
