Dan Bull, the massively popular YouTube musician who makes raps for gaming and showed up as Jack the Ripper in an Epic Rap Battle versus Hannibal Lecter, might have to quit YouTube. For the moment, he’s decided to soldier on, but as his hearing becomes more fractured, it’s clear the YouTuber with over 700,000 subs can’t go on in this way.

Nearly in tears as he explained his condition to his fans, the YouTuber said he has been to several specialists in regards to the painful popping and clicking he hears whenever he talks, chews, or moves his jaw. And with it coming up on two years since he first noticed the condition that doctors have been unable to diagnose, he struggles to admit that the problem is getting much, much worse.

As Dan explains on his channel, “What I believe I have is a combination of the following:
1. Eustachian Tube Dysfunction
2. Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction
3. Hyperacusis / Tonic Tensor Tympani Syndrome
I believe these symptoms share a causal factor but nobody has been able to adequately explain it so far. It’s f**king me up, it really is.”

He’s already given up listening to music and has to turn his video games to near-silent whenever he plays them. How long will it be before even his beloved raps — the source of his income — become unbearable as well?
