Full disclosure: I’ve watched jackshit of the films nominated by the Razzies to be the WORST picture/actor/actress in 2015. Okay, so that’s not entirely true — I saw A Million Ways To Die In The West. I didn’t think it was bad.
But there are a few different tricks to picking Razzie Awards that make them easier than picking Oscar Winners: the Razzies go off of a campaign of pettiness and a mean-spirited “Kick ‘Em While They’re Down” mentality that only sometimes interferes with their “Pick the Low Hanging Fruit” policy. This means that while big name stars frequently make the list for appearing in a bad movie, only RARELY do they win when something terrible is at play. So will Johnny Depp get a Razzie win for Transcendence? Not while God-boy Kirk Cameron is hanging around to be pissed on. Of course, I could be totally off-base in all of my thinking — this is the first year I’ve ever attempted to handicap the Razzies. Check back in with me on Sunday to see how I did.
Good luck to all the nominees.
