The children of Twitter had one question last night and it wasn’t “why the hell did Pete Carroll call a passing play on that infamous last drive of the Seahawks?” Rather, the kids of Twitter were more curious as to who the hell this Missy Elliott person was.
Even more amusing than the ignorance was the outrage as older social media enthusiasts swarmed the hashtag #WhosMissy? to express their indignance over the illogical nature of the question. One lady equated it to not knowing what football was. While it’s egregious that that children were unfamiliar with a performer who last charted a decade ago and thinking that she was someone Katy Perry “discovered,” umm, there’s a reason they’re called kids.
For your edification, here are some of the tweets that explore the anger.
I don’t get why people get mad at “little kids” for not knowing who Missy Elliott is. Like it’s not their fault they were born past her time.
