If you recognized something familiar when you heard the theme for Netflix’s new hit comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, you’re not alone. The theme definitely channels the style of Schmoyoho’s Songify series. Little did I know that songify auteur Michael Gregory himself had a hand in creating the song. The song was created by Tina Fey, Robert Carlock and composer Jeff Richmond, but the Schmoyoho gang were brought on board for the extended version above. Take a break from binging the series on Netflix (if you haven’t finished it already) and listen to this original cut of the soon to be iconic theme.
