Furious 7 finally hits theatres today. The highly anticipated seventh installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise has been understandably delayed due to rewrites and reshoots following the tragic and unexpected death of star Paul Walker. The seventh film in the hugely popular series is being hailed as a perfect sendoff for the action star who won fans hearts over nearly 15 years of Fast and Furious films. To finish the movie, filmmakers used CGI and voice-over clips from Walker’s brothers along with extensive rewrites.
Before you head out to the theatre check out 7 of Walker’s best moments.
No one could deliver the Furious franchise’s high octane action scenes like Walker, something that was apparent all the way back in the early days of 2 Fast 2 Furious.
A huge part of the films both on screen and off was the friendship between Walker and his co-star Vin Diesel. They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so this impersonation is basically nothing short of a love note.
It wasn’t until the third film in the franchise, The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift rolled around that fans and filmmakers realized that the franchise was here to stay. The films owed much of their longevity to Walker’s adaptability and infectious good nature. Even high stakes scenes were infused with fun in Walker’s hands.
Arguably Walker’s other key relationship on set was with co-star Jordana Brewster who played Mia, Walker’s girlfriend and later wife in the films. If recent films like Fifty Shades of Grey have taught us anything, it’s that chemistry between romantic leads is key. Brewster and Walker managed to keep that chemistry fresh through seven consecutive films.
