Game of Thrones Season 5 Spoilers, YouTube Recaps, and Fan Theories

TV fans have the work cut out for them this weekend. As soon as pull yourself out of your 13 hour Daredevil coma, we’re all going to have to deal with the premiere of Game of Thrones’ 5th season. The deadly power struggle in Westeros has never been anything short of epic, but this season still promises to be a game changer. In the past, the writers have stuck pretty close to George R.R. Martin’s lengthy and…ahem…detailed novels, making only some minor tweaks to the timeline and merging a handful of minor characters. However, in Season 5, the reign of text is officially over: the TV writing team is taking the reins to steer the story in a whole new direction.

Fans have been poring over the teaser trailers that have been released for this season and spinning elaborate theories about which characters stay and go. Rumor has it that some unexpected deaths may be on the horizon in the first few episodes of the new season, and that those losses will drive the story in a whole new direction. Fans are also anticipating certain storylines converging more quickly than they do in the books. Danaerys Targaryen in particular is expected to join up with the bulk of the main cast more quickly in the TV universe, potentially cutting short her time on the Eastern continent of Essos.

If none of that made any sense to you then, you might need a quick Game of Thrones refresher course before the big premiere. Lucky for you, YouTube has provided the perfect resource to get you up to speed. The Fine Bros helpfully recapped the first three seasons of the epic drama in just 9 convenient minutes.

Of course the most important stuff to know happened last season, so slow things down with this Season 5 recap from #News.

Presto — thanks to the magic of YouTube, you’re now prepared to dive into the new season of Game of Thrones with the wisdom of a maester. Enjoy.
