UPDATE: The contest is officially over, and NMR would like to personally congratulate the official winner of the Motorola Moto E, Ms. Julia Fang!
When NMR was approached with the possibility of interviewing Megan Nicole AND giving away a free Moto E smartphone to one of our readers, we yelled “DEAL!” and ran around the office screaming excitedly. We’ve calmed down since then (only slightly), and can now give you the details.
Teaming up with Motorola to present their new Moto E phone, Megan scored us the opportunity to give one (1) free phone to a reader of our choosing! We could have made you do all sorts of demeaning things to win the phone, but that isn’t really in the spirit of the #ChoosetoStart promotion. It’s more about being nice and branching out. So we’re going to be nice to people who branch out this promotion.
Starting today, Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 12:00 PM PST, we’re going to give you the opportunity to retweet this article along with the #ChooseToStart hashtag. Also, you have to follow us on Twitter @NewRockstars. We will do this for seven calendar days and end the contest on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 12:00 PM PST. We will choose one lucky follower/retweeter at our discretion (subject to official rules). That will give you ample opportunity to not only retweet this article and win a brand new smartphone courtesy of the good folks at Motorola, but also to engage the spirit of the promotion yourself and start doing something new and positive in your life. The full terms and conditions of the giveaway are listed here.
In the meantime, make sure you read our interview with the fantastically talented and lovely Megan Nicole, check out her video in which she talks the Moto E, and then retweet. Yes, in that order.
Megan, how freakin’ excited are you to live in an age where people can have a phone with them at all times?
Megan: It’s crazy to have the world at your fingertips at all moments. You can connect with anyone at anytime and access all of the information you want right away. It’s like a mini computer. And goodness knows where I’d be without my GPS!
Have you ever had an incident where you forgot your phone and can we know what it was?
Even worse than forgetting my phone, I have accidentally had it fall out of my back pocket and into the toilet. Not the best day when that happens! Haha.
Motorola’s new campaign is called #ChooseToStart — have you started anything new lately? A new album perhaps?
I just started shooting my first feature film! I am working on a new movie right now called Summer Forever. It’s a musical too, which makes me super excited. I also just started to take Spanish lessons and have been working with a fitness trainer to start taking better care of my body.
In your new video, you go and hand out flowers to strangers … was it scary? Exciting? Did you encounter any weirdos or grumps?
I was a little scared at first because I wasn’t sure how people would respond. We did get a couple of grumpy people who didn’t want any flowers or high fives, haha, but it made me happy to see so many people react with a smile! We also gave each person an extra flower so they could pay it forward and continue spreading kindness.
Aside from this cool promotion, what’s been one of your favorite moments as a YouTuber so far?
YouTube has been an amazing platform for me to share my music. I’m so blessed to be able to travel the world and perform. My fans have been so supportive over the years and it’s crazy that we just hit 3 million subscribers on YouTube! Knowing that many people have taken the time to subscribe and watch my videos is surreal.
