I don’t know what’s bigger news for me: that Alfie Deyes and Zoe “Zoella” Suggs are being enshrined as wax figures in Madame Tussauds, or that British fans call the pair “Zalfie.” Probably the second thing, but the first thing is the focus of the story, so let’s pay attention to that.
The unveiling of the pair’s wax figures at the world famous primarily London-based wax museum (and pop culture trend chaser) is to come sometime later this year and marks a first for YouTubers … although some weirdo somewhere has doubtlessly covered himself in hot wax for some YouTube video at one point. Zoella talks about the news here:
The couple will have input as to how the figures look and will each donate an outfit for the statue to wear. God, I hope one of them donates a “Who Farted?” t-shirt or something equally crass/hilarious.
Ben Sweet, General Manager of Madame Tussauds London, said “We are delighted to be working with Alfie and Zoe. It’s a first for the attraction and reflects just how huge these YouTube stars are.”
I think Ben Sweet maybe has a falsely inflated sense of how important Madame Tussauds is. But it’s interesting news nonetheless.
