It’s another day of digital content at Newfronts, and Discovery Digital Networks is kicking it off with a big piece of news. The network has signed some brand new talent ahead of their presentations this morning. World traveler and YouTube adventure junkie Louis Cole will bring his channel FunForLouis and its 1.3 million subscribers to Discovery in a deal announced today.
Cole will join Seeker, the adventure and travel focused network that Discovery launched back in March. Cole will be celebrating his new home with a new Discovery backed show called Flying The Globe. The ambitious series will feature Cole on a three month world tour. Cole will fly himself on the journey in a small aircraft. Along the way he will visit 22 world cities and immerse himself in the local culture. True to form, Cole will also spend time raising awareness about the issues faced by each community he visits.
In a statement announcing the partnership, Discovery’s Senior VP of Content Tom Lofthouse said, “Louis embodies the spirit of Seeker and our dedication to journeys and storytelling that celebrates the world around us and those who are never satisfied with the expected or mundane. His charismatic personality and his passion for travel pull us into his beautiful, crazy, chaotic world, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the Seeker family.”
Cole also expressed enthusiasm about this new chapter in his YouTube career. “I’m so excited to start Flying the Globe with my friend JP and love that I can do that in partnership with such a respected and awesome network like Discovery Digital Networks’ Seeker,” he said. “Being a part of the online community and encouraging others to live their adventure is what FunforLouis is all about, and I can’t wait to see what this new partnership holds for the future.”
No word yet on the premiere date but production is expected to start soon.
