Big news, literary web series fans – “The New Adventures of Peter and Wendy,” a vlog-style adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan, is coming back for its second season on June 12.
If you missed the series’ 24-episode run last year, it reimagines Wendy Darling (Paula Rhodes) as an advice columnist eager to escape the small town of Neverland, Ohio and see the world, and Peter Pan (Kyle Walters) as her best friend and eventual boyfriend who doesn’t want anything in his life to change.
Following in the “Lizzie Bennet Diaries” tradition, it fleshes out the story through characters’ Twitter accounts and other interactive elements framed around an online newspaper, The Kensington Chronicle.
“Peter & Wendy” had a good showing at the IAWTV Awards this year, winning Best Transmedia Experience over other literary web series “Emma Approved” and “Carmilla,” while Katie Moest won for Best Production Design.
Season 2 will feature Wendy’s new life in a big city, introduce the mysterious Captain Hook character and bring in a variety of new cast members, including Supernatural‘s Jim Beaver and YouTube star Meghan Camarena aka Strawburry17.
“The New Adventures of Peter and Wendy” also stars Brennan Murray, Graham Kurtz and Lovlee Carroll. It was produced by Jenni Powell, written by Shawn deLoache and directed by Matthew Breault.
